British-founded bookmaker William Hill is set to lose big if Liverpool claim the 2018-19 English Premier League title. The storied football club, which last won England’s top division in 1989-90, is currently second betting choice at +400 to win it all. Reigning champion Manchester City is the heavy favorite at -150 to repeat.
Combined with cross-city rival Manchester United, both clubs come up well short in Premier League futures betting in relation to the Reds. The number of bets backing Liverpool sit at 32.9 percent as of Thursday, August 8 at William Hill. Man City (16.6) and Man United (9.4) tally 26.0 percent overall.
“We stand to lose almost half a million if Liverpool win the EPL and those liabilities will almost certainly increase dramatically – If Klopp delivers then punters will literally cop the lot,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
Matchday 1 of 38 for the new EPL season begins Friday, August 10 at 3:00 p.m. ET as United square off against Leicester City.
